Abstract

1. With a small quantity of retained austenite in the carburized case the resistance to scoring of steel 20Kh2N4A decreases sharply despite the substantial hardness of the surface layer. 2. An elevated concentration of highly alloyed retained austenite in carburized and carbonitrided steel 20Kh2N4A subjected to immediate quenching increases the scoring resistance of the steel.
