Abstract

1. Repeated strain of St. 3 steel to the yield point with intermediate aging for 2 h at 100°C (RMTT) for four cycles of treatment raises the yield point 25% while retaining satisfactory plasticity (the relative reduction in section decreases somewhat). 2. RMTT reduces the creep rate of St. 3 steel at 400°C by more than two orders. With an increasing number of cycles the heat resistance of the steel increases to nearly the level of low-alloy pearlitic steels.
