Abstract

A series of N-CDs were prepared from tryptophan under different reaction temperatures (200, 180, 160 °C) and different reaction time (0.5, 1, 2 h). Many professional devices were selected to research the inhibition behavior of N-CDs in HCl environment. These results revealed that reaction temperature and reaction time would greatly affect the corrosion behavior of steel in 1 M HCl environment. As the reaction temperature and time increased, the corrosion inhibition effect firstly enhanced and then weakened, and reached the best performance at 180 °C and 1 h. In the meantime, the icorr of steel in blank solution sharply decreased after adding N-CDs. At 200 mg/L of N-CDs, the inhibition efficiency for steel was higher than 90%. The adsorption isotherm and XPS analysis showed that the N-CDs would tightly cover on steel surface by physicochemical interaction.
