Abstract

In this paper transient analysis in interconnected power system considering Generation Rate Constant (GRC) with a ramp disturbances, in a two area (Hydro-Thermal) including the effect of Automatic Generation Control (AGC) is considered. In almost all the cases unit step input is preferred as a disturbance to study the transient behaviour of the interconnected power system. In this paper, ramp input is considered as disturbances to study the transient behaviour of the interconnected power system. As this input does not change instantly rather it increases gradually. Transient analysis of interconnected Hydro-Thermal model with a ramp disturbance is considered. The generation rate constant effect is also analyzed in this paper by including it in the interconnected power system. In most of the works, unit step disturbance is considered because it matches the sudden change of load. The disturbance in this paper is considered as a gradual change rather than sudden change. Comparative analysis is performed with I, PI and PID. The analysis shows that PID controller gives best results. System analysis and modelling have been carried using MATLAB SIMULINK.
