Abstract

In this paper, effect of the radiation pattern of transmitting antenna on radio wave propagation in rectangular tunnel is studied. Ray tracing method was used for calculating field distributions generated by half-wave dipole, patch antenna, and beamforming antenna in the tunnel. The results show that under a certain transmission power, the radio wave coverages given by the three antennas in the tunnel are similar to each other, but within a certain range in the tunnel, the beamforming antenna can give the best radio wave coverage among three cases.
