Abstract
The effect of hysterectomy on sexual functioning differs from one woman to another. Although it is well known that hysterectomy may affect self-perceptions and self-esteem of women, it is emphasized that the sexual function of women who have to maintain their female identity, values, and sexuality is also affected. Sexual health is neglected by health professionals.
