Abstract
Effect of protease enzymes on reducing amount of a granular starch hydrolyzing (GSH)enzyme in dry grind ethanol process was evaluated. GSH enzyme simplifies the dry grind cornprocess by liquefying and saccharifying starch into glucose at = 48C. Two protease enzymes wereused with GSH enzyme in the dry grind corn process. Final ethanol concentration, fermentation rate, ethanol conversion efficiency, ethanol yield and distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) yieldwere analyzed at three levels of GSH enzyme and four levels of each protease enzyme. Bothprotease enzymes increased fermentation rates and resulted in higher final ethanol concentrations.
