Abstract

The effect was studied of exogenously added prostaglandins (PGs) E 2 and/or F 2α at different concentrations on certain characters of diluted semen of Murrah buffalo breeding bulls at 0, 24, 48 and 72 h of incubation. It was observed that the presence of PGE 2 alone and PGE 2 in combination with PGF 2α were significantly beneficial for the maintenance of motility and viability of sperm ( P < 0.01). While the proportion of abnormal sperm remained the same in all the treatment groups at all storage periods, the percentage of acrosomal changes did not vary between treatments.
