Abstract

SUBCUTANEOUS injection of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) prevents pregnancy in hamsters1–3 and blocks nidation in the rat and rabbit4. Subcutaneous injection or intravenous infusion of prostaglandin E2 or F2 terminates pregnancy in the rhesus monkey5. Therapeutic abortion using prostaglandin in medical practice has also been reported6–10. The following experiment was performed in an attempt to reveal the mechanism of action of prostaglandin.
