Abstract

Black gram (Vigna mungo L.) is a crucial Indian pulse crop, valued for its nutritional and agricultural importance. However, seed aging adversely affects germination and viability, impacting yield. This ITM University study explores the efficacy of various seed priming treatments in enhancing seed quality and viability for improved growth and yield. Accelerated aging was induced before applying priming methods with GA3, PEG, and KNO3 . Results underscore the potential of 1% KNO3 priming to enhance seed quality, viability, and growth attributes. These findings offer insights for optimizing black gram cultivation and addressing seed aging challenges.
