Abstract
The effect of preliminary irradiation on the probability of lead azide detonation has been studied. It is established that the detonation probability is a nonmonotonic function of the irradiation dose, which grows in the region of small doses, exhibits a maximum, and then drops at large doses. The obtained experimental data agree with a divacancy model of the initiation of heavy metal azides.
