Abstract

In many cases the plastic properties and brittle fracture strength of industrial semiproducts from high-strength steels are caused by their structural inhomogeneity. The structural inhomogeneity of such steels can be diminished and the plastic characteristics improved by conducting a preliminary heat treatment. The present paper concerns the results of a study of the effect of such heat treatment on the properties and the microstructure of high-strength steels.
