Abstract

1. Preliminary annealing of deformed metal has a marked effect on the amount of (100)[OVW2 cubic component of the structure formed during subsequent high temperature annealing. 2. Preliminary annealing at 500°C for 1.5 h and 600°C for 30 min causes an increase in (100)[OVW] component to 50% during subsequent annealing at 900°C for 2 h. 3. The reason for the increase in cubic component (100)[OVW] after optimum preliminary annealing and final annealing at 900°C for 2 h is probably partial retention of deformed (100)[011] grains and the occurrence of an increased amount of (100)[OVW] during primary recrystallization.
