Abstract

This work focuses on the synthesis of La2O3 nanoparticles by simple reflux method. Lanthanum nitrate and urea are used as staring compounds. The solution obtained was transferred to a round bottom flask which was maintained at a constant reaction temperature and time. The precursor concentration was varied in order to investigate its effect on the properties of La2O3. The prepared samples were characterized by XRD, FTIR, SEM & UV-Visible. The SEM images showed uniform monoclinic nanoslab like morphologies. The XRD pattern revealed a polycrystalline nature of the sample and also revealed that with a increase in precursor concentration, the crystallinity and particle size also increased.
