Abstract

ABSTRACTA lightweight high-entropy Al24.2Si3.2Cu24.2Ti24.2Ni24.2 alloy has been effectively developed by sonication-assisted physical blending of micro-nanometre size particles followed by high-temperature sintering. A blending process homogenised the elemental micro-nanometre particles, which were well bonded by a solid-state diffusion process, and these developed into multicomponent intermetallic compounds in the sintered alloy microstructure. The resulting Al24.2Si3.2Cu24.2Ti24.2Ni24.2 alloy a very high strength measured in terms of hardness compared to the value obtained by compression testing.
