Abstract

The effect of the concentration of three types of pour point depressants on the optical and low-temperature properties of diesel fuels was investigated. The pour point depressants were based on copolymers of higher alkyl methacrylates with vinyl acetate, ethylene with vinyl acetate, and ethylene with a-olefins. A correlation was found between an increase in the optical density of fuel with additives and improvement of its low-temperature properties; a decrease in the solid point and the limit filterability temperature. Based on the results obtained, it can be considered possible to develop a fast method for predicting the low-temperature properties of diesel fuels using optical methods.
