Abstract

Summary Between the ages of nine and 12 months, six Jersey heifers which received concentrate feed containing 272 g. each of supplementary methionine and potassium orotate gained an average of 115 lb. and required 3.1 lb. TDN per pound gained. The average gain of a control group was 100 lb., with a feed efficiency of 3.5 lb. of TDN per lb. of gain. Both observations were statistically significant at P = 0.05. Increased activity of internal parasites was indicated in the treated group.
