Abstract
The effect of the polarization potential in proton-deuteron scattering is studied numerically at low incident proton energies in a two-body model. Inclusion of this potential in this problem leads to a very small change in the ``nuclear'' phase shifts and hence its effect can be neglected for all practical purposes at low energies in contradiction to some recent conjectures.
