Abstract

The effect of Pt addition on Jc of the value of a quench and melt growth processed YBaCuO filament produced by suspension spinning is examined. The filament has been made by suspension spinning quenched YBaCuO powder containing a small amount of Pt through the melt. By controlling the melt growth process of the filament, dense and highly oriented textures were produced. The transport Jc increases on adding Pt. A significantly improved JcM value and field dependence of JcM estimated from the magnetization curves have been achieved for a filament containing Pt.
