Abstract

IN view of the comments made by Silberman1 on the communication by James and myself2, I should like to draw attention to other experimental work that I have carried out to determine the effect of fluid viscosity, pipe diameter and amplitude of vibration on the flow of a fluid in a pipe. Although at this stage the work does not cover as wide a range of significant variables as would be required for a complete investigation of the effect of vibrations in pipe flow, it does give an indication of the magnitude of the effects which are likely to be obtained for the conditions which were described by Silberman.
