Abstract

The macrocyclic cobalt(II) complex Co(hmc)(H 2 O) 2 2+ (hmc=C-meso-5,7,7,12,14,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) forms Co(hmc)(OH)O 2 + in reaction with O 2 in aqueous solution at pH>7. The kinetics of oxygen binding in moderately alkaline media remain essentially the same as measured previously below pH 7, but the rate constant decreaser by a factor of 5 at high pH.
