Abstract

In this paper, a theoretical analysis for the inclined slider bearing with porous layer attached to slider as well as stator including effects of slip parameter in the x-direction for the upper and lower porous regions with different permeability parameters and couple stresses has been studied. The modified Reynolds equation governing fluid film pressure is derived on the basis of Stokes microcontinuum theory of couple stress fluids by using slip boundary conditions at the fluid–porous interface. The modified Reynolds equation is solved analytically and closed form expressions are obtained for the fluid film pressure, load capacity, friction on the slider, and coefficient of friction to examine possible effects on the system. Computed values of load capacity, friction on the slider and coefficient of friction are displayed in graphical form.
