Abstract

ABSTRACT Due to the more significant industrial need for compact, higher thermal efficiency and cheapest heat transfer system, the heat pipe filled with nanofluid is the most prominent research trend. As a result, heat pipe performance characteristics are interrelated to heat pipe and nanofluid factors. The current article is an attempt to evaluate the performance of a copper heat pipe with stainless steel screen mesh layers inserted with silver nanofluid in various concentrations (0.1v, 0.2v, and 0.3v%), different nanoparticle sizes (15, 25, and 35 nm), and orientation (30°−90° in a gap of 15°) using silver nanofluid. Used nanofluids have been prepared by a two-step method. The dispersed additives were stirred using a magnetic stirrer and ultrasonicated using an ultrasonic homogeniser for two hours in each case. The heat load was varied in 10–140 W using a dimmer state. The HTC of evaporator and condenser portions was evaluated separately, and the optimum combination of affective parameters was suggested.
