Abstract

The theory of noise in noninteracting particulate systems is extended to include interacting systems using the Preisach approach. The effect of interaction is to produce excess Barkhausen noise, which is present neither in noninteracting models nor in the classical Preisach models. Extended Preisach modeling, which now includes accommodation and noncongruency effects, is capable of describing excess Barkhausen noise and classifying the types of interaction. This paper will analyze specifically how the moving model and the accommodation model affect media noise.
