Abstract
Summary: The basal and maximal gastric acid output were determined before and during maintenance therapy with long-acting parapenzolate bromide (Relanol) in 15 Chinese male subjects suffering from peptic ulceration. Statistical analysis of the results confirmed that there was significant suppression of both basal and maximal acid secretion by parapenzolate bromide. No untoward side effects, other than dryness of the mouth, were seen. It is concluded that parapenzolate bromide is a safe and effective anticholinergic drug.
