Abstract

[Objective]To investigate the change of indicators of oxidative stress in serum of patients with silicosis, and explore the mechanism of the development of silicosis.[Methods]Indicators of oxidative stress in serum including superoxide dismutase(SOD),nitric oxide(NO),serum glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC),nitric oxide synthase(NOS),and lipid malondialdehyde(MDA) were determined in 100 cases of control group,200 cases of dust-exposed group,32 cases of observed group(the original diagnosed 0 + patients) and 130 cases of silicosis group.[Results] Compared with the control group,NO,GSH-Px were significantly increased, and SOD were decreased significantly in dust-exposed group and silicosis group(P0.05,P0.01).Compared with the control group and dust-exposed group,T-AOC,NOS,MDA levels in silicosis group were significantly increased.(P0.05,P0.01).GSH-Px in the silicosis group was increased significantly(P0.01) than that in dust-exposed group.GSH-Px were increased in phase Ⅲ silicosis group than that in observation group and phaseⅠ silicosis group(P0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed serum GSH-Px had a significant positive correlation with silicosis staging, grouping, seniority exposed to dust, type of work(P0.01).[Conclusion]The imbalance of oxidative and anti-oxidation system is related with the occurrence and development of silicosis. The monitoring on oxidative stress indicators is benefit for the prediction and prognosis assessment of silicosis.
