Abstract

An experimental study was conducted to determine if varying the 10-mm nylon cyclone's orientation affects its penetration characteristics. Inclinations (from the vertical) of 45, 90 and 135 degrees were studied at dust levels ranging from about 2.0 to 30.0 milligrams per cubic meter. Methods of sample analysis and data treatment are presented and discussed. The study showed that cyclone inclinations up to 135 degrees had no measurable effect on cyclone performance.
