Abstract
A TRANSITORY and reversible state of gastrointestinal malabsorption has been described during the oral intake of neomycin.1 2 3 4 5 Clinically and histopathologically this malabsorptive state is similar to that seen in nontropical sprue.4 , 5 The present communication reports the effect of orally administered neomycin on the gastrointestinal absorption of penicillin V (potassium phenoxymethyl penicillin) in 5 normal human subjects.
