Abstract
An emerging material CNT aerogel, mitigating nano-level properties of CNT into macro level, has been synthesized using scalable floating catalyst chemical vapor deposition and doped with oxygen/nitrogen via plasma treatment. The dopant leads to formation of a strong space charge layer due to the high surface wetting effect, which is unfavorable for DNA hybridization detection. Bare CNT aerogel showed best sequence selectivity for the detection of DNA hybridization. The present study showed existence of a critical trade-off between doping and presence of huge hydrophilic functional groups on CNT aerogel surface is detrimental for electrochemical impedance bio sensing performance.
