Abstract

A total of 59% of Indonesian children aged 6-24 months were given food that inappropriate with the recommendations of timing, frequency, and quality. The lack of proper feeding can be reduced by education to mothers. The purpose of this research was to analyze stimulation practices of stunting in children aged 12-24 months in Biaro, Primary Health Care work area. This study was a quasi-experimental with non-randomized one group pretest-postest design. Samples of 48 mothers were divided into two groups, that were 24 mothers who received intensive nutrition education at the intervention group and 24 mothers at the control group in Biaro Primary Health Care work area. The intervention group was given nutrition education intervention for one month provided in two sessions. The first session will be given education about complementary feeding and the second session about stimulation. The study was conducted in March-July 2019. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-test to analyze before-after differences in stimulation practices. The Wilcoxon Sign Rank test was used to assess the differences between the two groups. Results. The results showed that before the intervention, there was no significant difference in maternal stimulation practice in both groups, intervention group (p=0,078) and control group (p=0,575), after the intervention, maternal stimulation practice were significantly different respectively p-value = 0.001 and P-value = 0,018. Conclusion. Nutrition Education using booklets effectively increased stimulation practices.
