Abstract

In this paper, the effects of side hole area, side hole shape, and side hole angle of submerged nozzle on liquid steel-level fluctuation and free-surface temperature distribution in slab mold are studied by mathematical simulation method. The results show that with the increase of side hole area, the flow rate of molten steel in the mold decreases and the temperature of molten steel decreases faster; with the increase of side hole angle, the liquid steel flow rate in the mold increases and the position of liquid steel high-temperature zone moves upward; with the change of side hole shape from rectangle to oval, the flow rate of molten steel in the mold decreases and the temperature of molten steel decreases faster. The research results can provide a theoretical basis for the design of reasonable mold nozzle.KeywordsMoldSubmerged nozzleStainless steelFlow field
