Abstract

Whether the rotor structure is non-uniform or not affects the performance of the motor. The torque, electromagnetic force, stress and vibration of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs) with non-uniform and uniform air gap are compared in this paper. Comparative analysis shows that motor with non-uniform air gap can reduce torque ripple greatly and have little effect on the average torque. In addition, there is no big difference in electromagnetic force, stress and vibration.
