Abstract

Rats fed 60 μg. daily of carotene homogenized in nonfat milk deposited significantly more vitamin A in their livers than rats fed the same amount of carotene homogenized in water. When 32 μg. carotene was fed daily, there was no difference in liver storage of vitamin A between the water and milk homogenates. When vitamin A per se was fed, there was no significant difference in vitamin A storage between the milk and water homogenates except for reconstituted nonfat milk which significantly lowered liver storage of vitamin A when 52 μg. of vitamin A was fed.
