Abstract

V-shaped symmetrical antennas are often used to restore UWB pulse signals. Firstly, two reflection mechanisms of V-shaped symmetrical antenna receiving free space plane wave are analyzed in this paper. The first reflection occurs in the whole process of plane wave coupling with V-shaped symmetrical antenna. The second reflection occurs at the connection between the V-shaped symmetrical antenna and its feeder. When the duration of the received pulse is greater than the round-trip time of the wave in the antenna, the waveform will be distorted by using the transfer function obtained by truncating the time-domain pulse. Therefore, this paper restores the waveform through the real transfer function of the antenna. Through a specific engineering example, the influence of oscilloscope noise on restored waveform is further analyzed.
