Abstract

Two new coordination compounds {[Cu(L1)]·(ClO4)·2H2O} (1) and [Cu2(L2)2]·(ClO4)2 (2) were synthesized with novel tripodal ligands N1-(2-Amino-ethyl)-N1-(1H-imidazol-2-ylmethyl)-ethane-1,2-diamine (HL1) and N1-(2-Amino-ethyl)-N1-(2H-pyrazol-3-ylmethyl)-ethane-1,2-diamine (HL2), respectively. Interestingly, coordination compound 1 exhibits one-dimensional (1D) zig-zag chain structure, coordination compound 2 displays dinuclear structure. The results showed that nitrogen-position of the ligands have distinct impact on the frameworks of the coordination compounds. In addition, the magnetic studies indicated that 1 and 2 exhibit antiferromagnetic interactions between the Cu(II) atoms.
