Abstract

This study was carried out to evaluate the seed yield and oil content of black cumin, at Qlyasan Research Station, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Sulaimani University [35˚, 34″ 307′ N; 45˚ 21′ 992″ E with an altitude of 765 masl ], during winter season 2008-2009. Factorial experiment including four rates of Nitrogen fertilizer (0, 20, 40, 60) kg ha -1 and GA3 (0, 50, 100) ppm pre –flowering spray, conducted in Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with 4 replications. The application of nitrogen in different levels showed significant values in most of the reproductive traits, the level of 20 kg N ha -1 showed the superiorities as compared to all other levels. Gibberellic acid spray caused significant increase in all yield characteristics except No. of capsules plant -1 , weight of 1000 seed and biological weight, while oil % was superior when no GA3 was added. The interaction of 20 kg N ha -1 with 50ppm GA3 predominated in both seed and oil yield.
