Abstract

ABSTRACTIn this work, the effect of (NH4)2CO3 additive on the combustion behavior and NOx emission properties during the combustion process of semi-coke was investigated. The combustion characteristics of semi-coke with/without (NH4)2CO3 were investigated in a thermogravimetric analyzer. Several parameters including the ignition and the burnout temperatures were obtained to understand the semi-coke combustion property. It was found that the addition of (NH4)2CO3 could decrease the ignition and the burnout temperatures, which was helpful to accelerate the combustion process. Besides that, the NOx emission properties during semi-coke combustion process were also investigated in a fixed-bed reactor. Experimental results revealed that the addition of 2.5wt% (NH4)2CO3 could effectively inhibit NOx emission. Thus, the addition of (NH4)2CO3 is favorable to the efficient and clean combustion of semi-coke.
