Abstract

Undoped and Nd doped KDP crystals have grown at room temperature using slow evaporation method. Structural properties of grown crystals were studied by single crystal X-ray diffractometer. Powder XRD studies reveal the formation of crystalline samples by well-defined Bragg peaks. The functional groups that are present in the compound are identified using FT-IR spectroscopy. HR-XRD studies reveal that the crystals are reasonably good and free from surface grain boundaries. The thermal stability of the crystals was measured using TG-DTA. Surface topography analysis has been carried out using SEM, AFM and chemical etching. Optical studies reveal the transparency of the crystals in the wavelength range of 200–900 nm. Photoluminescence studies shows blue fluorescence for the tested samples. SHG efficiency of the crystals determined by Kurtz powder technique.
