Abstract

Incoastal waters, enhanced riverine discharge and regener-ative decomposition contribute to significantly higher Feconcentrations, probably due to the higher concentra-tions of organic ligands which were possibly released byriverine input and from coastal marine organisms. Suchnatural organic ligands control the speciation of Fe andthe dissolved Fe concentration and thus the bioavail-ability of Fe in seawater.
