Abstract
We describe a simple algorithm for calculation of the optical phase by a phase-stepping technique. This method takes into account the effects of multiply reflected beams. The phase error with this algorithm has been evaluated numerically and we have shown that it has a period corresponding to one-fourth of the fringe spacing for low values of reflectance (R<<0.05).
