Abstract
The influence of the multilayer coating on the thermal load of the cutting tool was investigated. Using mathematical simulation methods, the heat flow propagation in a coated cutting tool was presented. The thermal insulation effect arising in the multilayer coating with the Al2O3 ceramic layer was considered. The analysis of thermal protection effect of such coatings at different cycles of material processing was made. The basic tribotechnical characteristics of coatings, which make a significant contribution to reducing the thermal load on the cutting plate, have been established.
