Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of modified Sugiura surgery on hepatic blood flow in patients with portal hypertension. Methods One hundred and six patients with portal hypertension were randomly divided into two groups, the control group (n =40) and the observation group (n =66).Patients in the control group were operated through simple line pericardial blood vessel disarticulation, while patients in the observation group were operated through modified Sugiura surgery. The hepatic blood flow were compared before and after one months of operation. Results The total hepatic blood flow, portal vein blood flow and hepatic arterial flow improved after one month of operation. There were significant differences between the two groups (P < 0.05).According to Child grading, the liver functions in both groups improved after operation, there was significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.05).Conclusions Modified Sugiura surgery can improve hepatic blood flow in patients with portal hypertension,so as to improve liver function.
