Abstract

Abstract The phase equilibria of the ternary Ti–M1–M2 (M1=Cr, V and M2=Mo, Nb) systems are described thermodynamically, especially in the non-burning β-Ti alloy region, and the ternary interaction parameters of the β-phase are derived. The phase diagrams reported previously are compared with the presented results and good agreement is found. The effect of Mo or Nb additions on the properties of the Ti–Cr–V system was studied. Molybdenum is effective in terms of non-burning. It does not form an intermediate phase but expands the β-phase field. The effect of Nb addition on the Ti–Cr–V ternary system was weak.
