Abstract

In the last few years, increasing interest in the development of Capacitive Power Transfer (CPT) systems has been placed from industries and academia. The performances of CPT systems are clearly influenced by the behavior of the cross coupling capacitances between transmitting and receiving plates. Thus, the misalignments between plates should affect the output power and transmission efficiency. In this paper, the sensitivity misalignment effect in terms of coupling capacitance is investigated for the most used four plates CPT systems: the horizontal architecture and the vertical architecture. The effect of the misalignment is simulated with Finite Element Analysis and validated through an experimental test bench.
