Abstract
The magnetic properties of a 6.5% SiFe alloy after annealing were found to be affected by the cooling rate as well as the annealing temperature. Excellent magnetic properties were obtained after oil quenching from 500°C, including a maximum relative permeability of about 65000 and a high-frequency WPin10/1000 core loss of 43 W kg −1. From microstructural characterization studies, the magnetic properties of the 6.5% SiFe alloy were observed to be associated with compositional fluctuations and domain structure, as well as with the formation of ordered phases.
