Abstract

An investigation was made about the influence of microscopic structure on the sulfide cracking resistance of some modified 13 chromium stainless steels.Martensite and sorbite structure with grain boundary, chromium carbide were cracked in short time, while sorbite without grain boundary carbide, ferrite, ferrite+sorbite and martensit with 10% ferrite were not cracked. As for strength level, those of quenched-and-temperd to have proof stress ≤70kg/mm2 showed no cracking. But, martensite structure with 10% ferrite, never cracked although its proof stress is 90kg/mm2.
