Abstract

Precipitation of carbonitrides is an important phenomenon influencing the microstructure of HSLA steels and their corresponding mechanical properties. Considerable efforts are expended over the world to understand the precipitation phenomenon in these steels. This is crucial for the successful design of these alloys and the optimum thermomechanical treatments to be adopted in order to achieve the desired mechanical strength. The purpose of this study is to calculate the solubility of carbides and nitrides in austenite and to exactly determine the normal and abnormal grain growth regions of austenite.
