Abstract

With a view to study the effect of micorrhiza (VAM) on growth, yield, quality and profitability of sugarcane, a field experiment was conducted at Sugarcane Research Institute, Shahjahanpur during the years 2011–12, 2012–13 and 2013–14 in spring planting season. The experiment was carried out in randomized block design with four replications using sugarcane variety CoS 8436. The treatments included T1-100%NK + 100% P+VAM @10kg/ha(basal), T2-100%NK+75%P+VAM2 @10Kg/ha(basal), T3-100% NPK + VAM @10Kg/ha (basal)+VAM @ 10 Kg/ha at 45 DAP, T4-100%NK+75%P+VAM@10 Kg/ha (basal)+VAM @10 Kg/ha at 45 DAP, T5-100%NK+100% P and T6-100%NK+75%P. Pooled data of three years showed that the germination, shoots, millable canes and cane yield were significantly higher with the application of 100% NPK along with VAM@10 Kg/ha as basal and 10 Kg/ha at 45 DAP (T3) as compared to other treatments. The cane yield (91.55 t/ha) obtained with application of 100% NPK+VAM @10 Kg/ha (basal)+VAM @10 Kg/ha at 45 DAP (T3) was 9.83% and 12.57% higher than 100% NPK (T5) and 100% NK+75% P (T6), respectively. CCS% was not affected signicantly under different treatments. Maximum benefit cost ratio (2.08) was obtained in T 3 treatment followed by T4 (2.05), T1 (1.99) and T2 treatment (1.98) whereas it was minimum (1.90) with application of 100%NK+75%P(T6).
