Abstract
The accurate prediction of particle tracking using computational fluid dynamics is crucial for industrial processes. This study enhances the Euler-Lagrangian particle-tracking method by incorporating a point-wise particle (PWP) correction. The goal is to improve the prediction of the erosion characteristics of submerged jets by employing appropriate mesh sizes. Through mesh refinement, the predicted erosion-related parameters gradually converge to the experimental data, even in cases where the fluid field is independent of the mesh size variations. Mesh size has a more pronounced impact on smaller particles due to their lower inertia. The PWP correction primarily affects the drag force on particles near the wall, where spatial differences in fluid velocity and particle rebound timing are significant. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the PWP correction in enhancing the accuracy of particle tracking predictions, particularly for larger particles.
