Abstract

Problems of the influence of “melt-graphite” interphase energy in iron on formation of graphite inclusions of different shapes are considered. The effect of the content of elements surface-active with respect to graphite in the melt on the shape of graphite inclusions is considered. The direction of their action on the variation of the “melt-graphite” interphase energy, which is the main factor of shaping of graphite inclusions in cast iron, is shown and the intensity of this action is evaluated.
